Ship Farm Holiday Cottages, Rhossili, Gower Both cottages are recently converted barns set on a working farm.

Two tastefully converted barns set on a working farm within walking distance to 3 beaches one being Rhossili Bay which has been voted the best beach in the UK by TripAdvisor in February 2013 and third best in Europe, 10th best in the world in 2013. The history of these properties are fascinating; in their long existence Fferm Llong cottage has served as the local inn and has been host to Scott of

the Antarctic expedition companion Edgar Evans and The Old School was the first school in the village of Rhossili. Quote taken from the book ‘Yesterday’s Gower’ by J Mansel Thomas

‘The first school in the village I can find a record of was held in a stall belonging to the Ship Inn, opposite it and still used as a stable. In the eighteen-fifties the teacher was an old village woman, then about 1860 the school was moved to what was the village almshouse, occupied by four or five people on parish relief.’

Ship Farm has been in the Beynon family since the early 20th century but the family link with Rhossili began when Owen Beynon was granted a lease of land in Rhossili in 1796 which the Beynon family continue farming to this day. Both cottages have been tastefully converted and are situated within walking distance to all three of Rhossili's bays,

This is the view from Rhossili Down, looking out to Worms Head as the sun dropped into the sea. The heather just starting to colour, that gold path on the water, and not a filter in sight.

People ask why I never get tired of the same coastline. This is why. 👌

Beautiful walk with easy access to the coastal path from our Ship Farm Holiday Cottages, Rhossili, Gower

The coastal path section from Mewslade Bay to Rhossili in Wales offers a breathtaking journey along one of the most picturesque stretches of the Gower Peninsula. This scenic route is part of a popular circular walk that showcases the area's dramatic landscapes and natural beauty.

The walk takes you past Fall Bay, a secluded cove that disappears at high tide, before continuing towards the iconic Worm's Head promontory. The path winds its way through diverse terrain, including grassy clifftops and rocky outcrops, offering opportunities to spot local wildlife such as seabirds and, on some rare occasions, even dolphins or seals in the waters below.

This section of the coastal path is also rich in history, passing by the remnants of an Iron Age fort and showcasing the area's geological significance. The circular route, which typically starts and ends in Rhossili, is approximately 3 miles long and takes about 2-3 hours to complete, depending on walkers’ abilities.
