Here's some good news: leasehold reform is finally moving. The government just opened public consultations on making lease extensions and freehold purchases cheaper, with responses due by 23 September 2026.

But here's the catch. Those cheaper costs aren't law yet. If your lease is dropping below 80 years, waiting for reform could actually cost you more in the long run.
