Have you decided whether to buy a stand-alone property or a sectional title in a complex?

Before you buy, there are very important questions to ask, because this can either grow your portfolio or make you regret your investment property.

Please don’t just buy because the kitchen has nice cupboards and the grass is green. Investigate properly first.

A little homework now can save you from future meetings that should have been emails, surprise levies, and stress-induced headaches.

This is Part 1 for those thinking of buying townhouses in a complex.

Where are you currently in your property journey?

Still saving like a disciplined financial warrior 💪🏽, still Googling “how to buy property without stress,” already found a property (lucky you!), or somewhere in the mysterious world of registration paperwork?

Fellow Zimbabweans are you still considering buying a property in South Africa? What type of property would you like to add to your portfolio? If you’re interested in student accommodation, this is definitely a business venture worth considering. South Africa currently has a shortage of student housing, and most universities can only accommodate about 20% of students on campus, meaning many students have to rent privately. It’s a niche worth venturing into, so don’t sleep on this.

When buying property in South Africa, location is very important because while some people say it’s not safe to invest there, the reality is that there are many secure and high-demand areas that make excellent investments. Before buying you should research the specific suburb, check crime statistics, visit the area at different times, and review recent sales trends using Property24 to see whether property values are appreciating based on past sales; if you choose the right location and money permits, you will likely never regret buying a house in South Africa. 🇿🇦

Did you know you can get excellent value for money by building a property portfolio in South Africa?

Have you ever considered that what you can buy in South Africa could be worth so much more compared to other markets? Property prices remain competitive, offering great opportunities for both first-time buyers and seasoned investors.

If you are in the diaspora, don’t hesitate to enter the South African market. Foreign buyers can qualify to purchase property without needing a residence permit. Even the banks are generous and willing to finance up to 50% of the mortgage, making it more accessible especially for those in the diaspora.

Another major advantage is long-term growth. If you invest in a good area, your property is likely to appreciate in value over the years, allowing you to build wealth while securing a tangible asset.
