As architects, we spend a lot of time visiting churches as part of our ecclesiastical work, and one thing we're always reminded of is how valuable these spaces can be.

Whether you're religious or not, churches often provide a calm, quiet and cool environment away from the pace of everyday life – somewhere to pause, reflect and simply enjoy a moment of peace.

Our Ecclesiastical Team has been particularly busy recently carrying out Quinquennial Inspections, giving us the opportunity to visit many beautiful historic churches and appreciate the important role they continue to play within their communities.

Have you visited your local church recently?

Back in January, we reported that works were underway at All Saints Church, Ripley, (one of the five churches that make up Cayton Parish) - and we’re delighted to share that the internal re-ordering is now complete.

As ecclesiastical architects, we’re proud to have supported this carefully considered transformation, improving accessibility and flexibility within the Nave through the removal of pews and lowering of platforms, while preserving the church’s historic character.

In the Chancel and Ingilby Chapel, seating has been sensitively adapted to enhance comfort, ensuring the space continues to serve both its heritage and its community.

A huge thank you to Pinnacle Conservation Ltd for their expert craftsmanship and collaboration throughout this project.

He also has experience in 3D modelling, technical design, and CAD, having completed a CAD internship prior to joining the practice.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys mountain biking, running, and playing cricket.

We’re excited to have Adam as part of the team as he begins his architectural career with us.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Sicklinghall – Repaired

The first phase of the works at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Sicklinghall, is now complete, supporting the long-term preservation of this Grade II listed church and its historic architectural character.
The works included:

• External repointing with lime mortar.
• Removal of inappropriate cementitious mortar repairs.
• Sensitive redecoration in suitable paint to enhance original architectural features.

Phase two works will continue the repairs to further preserve the building and enhance the user experience.

Delivered by our specialist Ecclesiastical Team, this project reflects some of our expertise as an architectural practice. Our approach reflects our commitment to high-quality church repair, heritage conservation architecture, and specialist ecclesiastical building conservation.

As main contractor, Pinnacle Conservation Ltd combined skilled craftsmanship with conservation best practice.
