Newport - We have installed a lot of windows over the years, but we have never had to install 51 in a building!
Yesterday was one of the most exciting days at Seymour so far — the first of our new windows went in!
This is a huge job in itself and will take a few months to complete. All of the windows are being supplied and installed by sturrocksjoinery, a local heritage window specialist, and we’ve been very particular about keeping them true to what would originally have been in the house.
Visually, we’re putting back exactly the same style of windows that were here previously, so from the outside there should be virtually no noticeable change. The big difference is that the new windows are double glazed and considerably more thermally efficient.
18% of our budget has gone on these windows! With 51 windows across a house of this size, this should make an enormous difference to how warm and comfortable Seymour is — without compromising the character of the building.
It feels like another major milestone. 3 down, 48 to go!
