Some of you may heave heard that we have taken the decision to transfer our sales and lettings agency business. After over 33 years of successful business, Chris and Trish Brown are now looking to retire. The transfer will include all properties currently marketed, ongoing sales, lettings and property management, to Pattinson Estate Agency, with effect from 1st February 2024.

We have chosen Pattinsons as we have a long history with the family and the business has a very similar focus to us. Like us, they are also an independent family owned and run estate agency.

I will continue to head up and grow Browns Survey and Valuation, which comprises of the Chartered Surveying, Valuation and Professional Consultancy Department, which is not being transferred. My team and I will continue to offer valuation and property advice services to lenders , borrowers, all professions; including solicitors , accountants , financial advisors , SIPP and SSAS pension administrators , and of course , private individuals.

It's that time of the year where our Commercial Property Manager Julie Anderson is again kindly collecting Christmas Jumpers for children and teens in the Teeside area. 🎅⛄️🎄

Here's some more information given by Julie herself:

''My name is Julie and together with my colleagues at Browns and with the help of our friends and families, we are appealing for Christmas jumpers for children and teens.

My daughter Kimmy, is a social worker with a local authority and Christmas jumper day (7th December this year) is one of the days that children from the most vulnerable and deprived backgrounds don't go to school. This is quite simply because the parents and care givers do not have the additional funds for a Christmas jumper at this extra difficult time of year.

Just to give you an idea of how many of the most deprived, disadvantaged and vulnerable children there are in the Middlesbrough area alone, each team of social workers safeguards about 150 children and there are 8 of these teams, that's approx... 1,200 children.

This is the 3rd year that we have been collecting jumpers and the feedback from the social workers who personally hand the jumpers over to the children has been amazing. Instead of feeling excluded from the Christmas jumper day fun, they are excited to attend. Not forgetting a mention for the social workers, who must be delighted.

We have created this page so that anyone who is kind enough to want to help can send money and we can personally go shopping for jumpers in all sizes. Alternatively this year we have been advised that we are also able to collect 'used' Christmas jumpers so long as they are in a clean / good condition and have plenty of life left in them.''

Have you heard the news that the plans to abolish Section 21 evictions in England and Wales will be indefinitely delayed until after the court system is reformed, the government has confirmed yesterday.

As the 'Renters Reform Bill' had its second hearing yesterday a long awaited worry for landlords, tenants and letting agents has now been answered. Although it has been discussed amongst professionals that once the justice system has been improved, this part of the 'Tenants Reform Bill' will be reviewed again, this is likely to be a good few years away yet.

Here at Browns, we are experiencing a very buoyant lettings market at the moment with many tenants in search for their new home. With the amount of available housing being low, it is certainly a great time for landlords to be listing their property!
