Another property inspected this week after External Wall Insulation (EWI) install, and unfortunately it’s not performing as it should.

This is what I’m seeing more and more off.

- Moisture trapped behind the system
- Cold bridging not properly addressed
- Mould forming internally
- Finishes already starting to fail

EWI can work well when its designed and installed properly.

- Insulation doesn't fix damp on its own
- Underlying issues don't disappear

If you've had EWI installed and something doesn't feel right or you have mould, condensation or cold spots, it’s worth getting it independently assessed.

Another property inspected with ongoing condensation issues.

Moisture has to go somehere, if it can't escape, problems start.

Peeling paint like this is often misdiagnosed as damp or paint failure, when the underlying issue is ventilation and moisture build up.

If it keeps coming back, the root cause hasn't been properly identified.

On site today.

Very common mould issue investigated in Reading today.

The cause was not rising damp, and they did not need their DPC injecting as the last company had quoted. It was poor ventilation and cold surfaces.

This is why proper diagnosis matters!

I was recently contacted by the owner of this beautiful property to see if I could carry out an EPC with a matter of urgency.

LM-Surveys & Inspections were instructed to carry out a Retrofit Assessment on this property in Brighton to determine what energy saving measures were necessary.

The homeowner is now in the install stage for loft installation under the government Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS).
