What is this I spy on the horizon? We dodged many showers today, watched them blow over, heard the thunder, walked towards them and away from them. Finally got caught in a hail storm at the end! Never a dull moment. Good job we had a booking at the rocket store for some amazing and fresh food. Goodness me there were some plates licked! Yummy! Couldn’t even catch a photo with this lot! 🤩

An ode to the 1818 painting “The Wanderer” by Casper David Friedrich.

This sunset came as a suprise after a rather gloomy day in May. I came across a group of photographers taking in the sublime at high tide. Waiting for that moment…..

It’s a common feeling of mine, staring at this vast landscape: we are so very small, there’s so much we don’t understand and sometimes so very little we can do to change it. In philosophical mood!!! 😳 Perspective is a gift.

Love these doorways. We have no idea what’s original and what’s not in this place, but why change what functions perfectly well. There’s a certain nostalgia to stepping into the old chapel. It’s from another time. However, everything works perfectly, in fact, it’s just all been redecorated so feels like new!

Looking forward to enjoying this morning coffee spot next week!


We take our morning refreshments very seriously at The Old Chapel. We’ve tried and tested many different coffee machines over the years but have come to respect the slow tradition of the Italian mocha pot. We provide a special one for the induction hob and separate milk frother (cafetière also available). Also works on non dairy options.

If your preference is different you are welcome to bring your own though. 😉

We now have ourselves status! We are very much looking forward to welcoming this years guests to . We are coming to the end of our renovations (thank goodness) and are taking bookings from May until end of August only. Short season this year!
