Happy New Year!

As many of you know, our beloved community pub, The Green Man, has weathered difficult times over the past few years. We have faced challenging trading conditions, which have inevitably put a strain on our finances. This situation has necessitated a temporary halt in essential maintenance and improvement projects. However, the situation has taken a positive turn with the arrival of our new tenants, Kevin and Janet. Their dedication and personal investment have significantly revitalised the pub, breathing new life into it and rekindling its central role in our community.

In line with these positive changes, we are excited to announce that we can now continue with a significant project that, with your support, we started a number of years ago. The project is aimed at enhancing the comfort and appeal of The Green Man – the replacement of our aging windows. This is not just about improving the building; it's an investment in the pub's future and our community's spirit.

Toppesfield Community Pub (TCP) is proud to invest in the replacement of six windows. This is a big step towards making our pub more energy-efficient, comfortable, and visually appealing. But we're setting our sights even higher, and we need your help to do it.

Our Community Challenge: Can we raise enough funds by the end of January to cover the 7th window?

This is where we turn to you, our amazing community, to help us achieve this goal. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to adding that 7th window, symbolising our collective strength and commitment to The Green Man.

We had hoped to hold the TCP Annual Members’ Meeting on Saturday 15th July with a celebration for our 10 year anniversary and to mark our tenants 1st anniversary but for a number of reasons we think it best to postpone the celebrations until later in the year.

We do however have to complete the formal AMM in the next few weeks so it will now be held on Wednesday 19th July at 7.30pm with a buffet being served at 6.30pm. We apologise for going back to a weekday but at this time of the year weekends are mostly booked up.

If you are a shareholder and have not received an email with attached agenda for the Annual Members Meeting along with a copy of the annual accounts and minutes from the last meeting, please let us know asap.

A unique opportunity has arisen for a driven and customer service focused Manager with proven history in running successful pubs to take the reins at our community owned, wet led, rurally located public house.

Set in the beautiful village of Toppesfield with stunning views, the pub was purchased by the community in 2012 and is the hub of village activity. It is situated next to the community brewery and volunteer run village shop.

The successful applicant will believe strongly in delivering outstanding customer service, be passionate about developing links within the community and be confident in running all day to day operations of a public house.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Being present both behind and in front of the bar, ensuring that every customer leaves wanting to return

- Ordering stock, maintaining levels and attaining GP targets

- Cellar management including line cleaning and championing excellent care of cask beers

- Staff recruitment and management

- Weekly rota planning and payroll

- Ensuring team members are trained, fluent in product knowledge, well presented and customer service focused at all times

- Maintaining excellent levels of hygiene throughout the whole premises

- Developing events and incentives to maintain the pub’s standing in the community

You will receive an annual salary plus performance related bonuses and the option to live on the premises.

Please note that this role is based in a very rural location with few transport links.

Tenancy is a possibility for the correct candidate
