Living and working in the South West means the ocean is part of everyday life - shaping our coastlines, communities, wildlife, and wellbeing. 🌊
This World Ocean Day, we’re reflecting on how caring for our environment on land plays a vital role in protecting the oceans beyond it.
From reducing waste within communities to maintaining greener shared spaces, everyday choices have a lasting impact on local waterways and marine ecosystems. Creating healthier places to live ultimately contributes to healthier coastlines and seas for the future.
That’s why initiatives like Surfers Against Sewage and their Plastic Free Communities campaign are so important - encouraging long-term change through small, collective actions that help reduce single-use plastics and build more sustainable communities.
A huge thank you to organisations including Clean Cornwall, Waterhaul, Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Surfers Against Sewage for the incredible work they continue to do across the South West. 🌍
Because protecting what sustains us starts with the spaces and communities around us.
