Summer Season 2026 — that’s a wrap. ☀️
Our sixth season at Penhallow Barn came to an end at the weekend and, looking back, I honestly don’t know where the summer went. It feels like the sun got its hat on back in June and simply decided to stay for the duration. Cornwall has certainly been showing off this year.
We’ve welcomed such a lovely mix of people through the doors this summer — returning guests, friends and family, Airbnb first-timers, wedding guests, brides, grooms, adventurers, artists, four-legged friends and even a couple of parrots! It has been a real privilege to have so many people enjoy this little corner of Cornwall, and to hear the stories of the places they’ve explored and the memories they’ve made while they’ve been here.
I really can’t express how grateful I am for all the beautiful reviews and kind words our guests have left. Running a holiday let can sometimes feel like a bit of a strange business. You spend a lot of time behind a computer, organising bookings, answering messages, sorting out the endless little things that need doing, while watching people arrive in Cornwall and head off to enjoy all the beautiful places you’re lucky enough to call home. It can certainly make you envious from time to time, but a privilege to know you played a small part in facilitating it.
Then, a lovely message comes through, someone books to come back, or you read a review that tells you Penhallow Barn has been part of someone’s special weekend or family holiday, and it reminds you why you do it. Those moments mean more than you probably realise.
And it seems some of you have enjoyed your stays enough to come back, because we’ve almost completely filled the summer of 2027 already — our earliest bookings to date. Perhaps it’s the beaches, the sunshine and the beautiful Cornish countryside… although I’m beginning to suspect my rather successful vegetable patch might have something to do with it 🤣 🥕🌿Absolutely no promises for next year!
We’ve also finally set up a website for Penhallow Barn, which you can find at https://penhallowbarn.co.uk There are more photos, reviews and information about the barn, so please do have a little look around and, if you know someone who might enjoy a stay in Cornwall, feel free to share it with them.
I normally close the doors for a little while after the summer season, but I’m always reluctant to completely disappear. Autumn here can be rather lovely — quieter beaches, crisp walks, cosy evenings and, of course, a decent Cornish pasty without fighting the queues. We have a few discounted autumn weekends available on Airbnb if you fancy a little escape before winter properly arrives.
And finally, thank you. Truly.
We couldn’t be heading into our seventh season with a 4.97⭐ rating and a continued Super host without the wonderful people who have stayed with us, returned to us, recommended us to friends and family, and taken the time to leave such thoughtful reviews.
Six seasons in, I still feel incredibly lucky to be able to share Penhallow Barn and this beautiful part of Cornwall with so many lovely people.
Here’s to season seven. ❤️
