Right folks it’s September. So what I hear you ask! Well there’s something you should know. It’s the best time of year to visit Cornwall. Not only can you sit on the beach in your swimmers topping up your tan after a quick dip, you can grab a little shellfish by the sea and in the evening, after a star lit sauna, you can cozy up by the fire and enjoy the best nights sleep in our amazingly comfortable beds.

There’s an important footnote to this. September is only the best time if you’re not a Gardener. If you are a gardener or a partial to a visit at a National Trust property or stately home then March and April are definitely the best times for that in Cornwall!

There comes a time in late summer when the swallows begin to gather. Their chatter fills the air as they practise those soaring twists and turns in preparation for their long journey south.

Today was that day or maybe they could sense the first real change in atmospheric pressure for weeks!

The turning of the seasons has certainly been evident this week — gentler heat, softer light and those heavy morning dews.

It does seem a little early to me, but I’m welcoming it with open arms! There’s something rather lovely about this time of year.

A little judicious pruning when we lost a stem and a few branches were getting to far from the wall but the main wisteria is going from strength to strength. The second flush of flowers is beautiful too, which do you prefer - leaves or no leaves? Swipe 👉

The second flush are a brighter colour but shorter racemes, I think I prefer it!
