​Named After a Smuggler: Formerly King’s Cove, it was renamed after John Carter—an 18th-century smuggler nicknamed the "King of Prussia" who ran a massive contraband network.

​Hidden Tunnels & Cart Tracks: The Carter family mined secret storage caves and slipway tracks directly into the rock to haul smuggled brandy, tea, and to***co.

​Battleship Shipwreck: In 1947, the famous WWI battleship HMS Warspite broke free during a storm while towed to a scrapyard and ran aground on the cove's rocks.

​Movie & Music Fame: Featured in the 2004 film Ladies in Lavender (starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith) and hosts prestigious international chamber music masterclasses at Porth-en-Alls.
