Dubai roads: the 10-minute U-turn

Missed your exit in Dubai? See you in ten minutes.

Back home in Nottingham, you miss a turn, you take the next left. Job done.

Here? No left. No right. You drive past where you want to be… keep going… find a U-turn… queue for the U-turn… then drive all the way back.

The building you want is right there. You can literally see it. You just can’t get to it.

To be fair, the roads are brilliant. Wide, smooth, no potholes (Nottingham council, take notes). But the sat nav saying “2 minutes away” means absolutely nothing.

Quick tip if you’re ever viewing properties out here: check how you actually get in and out of the community. On the map it looks close. In the car it’s a scenic tour.
