📉 BREAKING NEWS: Base Rate Cut 📉

The Bank of England has today reduced the base rate from 4% to 3.75%, bringing welcome news for homeowners and landlords taking out new mortgages or approaching remortgage.

Many lenders had already priced this in, so 2- and 5-year fixed mortgage rates have been improving, and those on tracker mortgages should see an immediate benefit. The move is expected to help boost housing market confidence, improve affordability, and support activity as we head into 2026.

💷 What about savers?
For savers, the picture is a little different. Variable and easy-access savings rates are likely to start edging down, while anyone with fixed-rate savings already locked in won’t be affected until their term ends. With inflation easing, the real impact may be softened, but it’s a good time to review savings and shop around.

Overall, while not great news for everyone, this cut sends a positive signal for the property market and wider economy.
