5 things estate agency has taught me… 🏡

It’s taught me that growth doesn’t happen overnight.
That confidence comes from experience.
That patience really is part of the process.
That rejection isn’t failure — it’s often just redirection.
And most importantly, that people matter more than property.

Running my own estate agency business has pushed me outside my comfort zone, taught me to trust myself and reminded me that not every valuation becomes an instruction, not every viewing becomes an offer, and not every deal goes smoothly.

You learn to take the highs with the lows, keep showing up, keep believing in what you offer and keep moving forward.

I’m still learning, still growing and still building — and I think that’s one of the things I love most about it. ❤️

Patience. Confidence. Resilience. Growth. And a genuine love for what I do.

There’s a moment about eleven on Christmas morning where whoever moved in October ends up in a doorway with a cup of tea, watching a room full of people in a house that belonged to a stranger in August.

That’s what people mean when they say they want to be in for Christmas. Nobody’s ever meant the completion statement.

Which is why it gets settled now. Agree a sale mid-September and you’ve got about fifteen weeks, and the average sale eats most of them. Leave it till half term and you need a quick conveyancer, a short chain and a lender in a generous mood, and those three have never once turned up on the same day.

The other thing about autumn is the crowd. Holidays done, kids back, and the people looking now are looking because they’ve got to move. Not because it’s raining and they fancy a nosey round your kitchen.

Nominations are now open for the 2027 Epping Forest District Civic Awards, celebrating the wonderful people and groups who go above and beyond to make a difference in our local communities. ❤️

The awards include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Team of the Year, with nominations open until Friday 27th November.

And there’s a lovely Waltham Abbey connection too! ❤️ Last year’s Citizen of the Year, Susan Smith, was recognised for the difference she has made within the Waltham Abbey community, while the Epping Forest Conservation Volunteers were named Team of the Year. 👏🏆

It would be wonderful to see another Waltham Abbey individual or group recognised this year for the amazing work they do within our town.
