Top Tips to Sell Your House This Winter
* Clean outside!
It is quite common after autumn to have lots of fallen leaves and other debris on the pathway. Make sure the exterior and the pathway to the house is clear to welcome any people viewing your property.
Don't forget the exterior. Wash the windows (or get your local window cleaner) to clean the windows and the window frames.
* Clean inside!
Wash windows, remove any cobwebs, polish any mirrors and door handles, clean the floor and dust shelving units at a minimum.
* Lighting
In winter, there tends to be less natural daylight. You are trying to create a warm and cosy ambience. Turn the lights on. In darker corners of the rooms, consider using floor lamps using shadows effectively.
* Heating
A warm welcoming house is better than a cold one. A cold house will be off-putting and it could be that people viewing will want to spend less time viewing your house.
* Dressing the rooms
As part of creating a warm ambience, consider helping people visualise living in the property. Consider a couple of wine glasses and a bottle of wine in the kitchen, hanging soft robes, tying towels with ribbons, carefully placing lotions, soaps and shampoos in the bathroom.
* Turn on the music
Often used in restaurant establishments. When restaurants want people to stay and spend more money, slow music is used. When they want to "flip" tables, then faster music is played. You want people to take their time in your property so consider using soft and slow music. Slow classical music is something we recommend.
