Should you buy a property to renovate, or go for one that’s already done up?
In my opinion, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but here’s my general thoughts…
Buying a fixer-upper can be exciting; you get to put your own stamp on it, potentially increase its value, and make it exactly how you want.
The catch?
Renovations take time, can get costly, and sometimes throw up unexpected surprises.
On the flip side, a move-in ready property is hassle-free.
You can settle in straight away, no stress over contractors or timelines, and you know exactly what you’re getting.
The trade-off? You might pay a bit more upfront and have less scope to personalise.
Ultimately, it comes down to your lifestyle, budget, and how hands-on you want to be.
If you love a project, a renovation could be perfect.
If you want something straightforward, ready-made might be the smarter choice.
