Powis Estates - Deer Park and the Wider Estate 🦌🌳

You may have seen that Powis Castle and Garden NT/YG Castell a Gardd Powis are trialling extended dog-friendly access within the Castle gardens for the summer season. It is a positive step for visitors wishing to enjoy more of the site with their dogs.

We would like to gently clarify that the parkland surrounding Powis Castle, including the deer park and wider estate, is privately owned and managed by Powis Estates. A permissive route for walkers is available along the tarmac drive; however, to safeguard the welfare of our deer herd and other wildlife, dogs are not permitted anywhere within the deer park or wider parkland, whether on or off a lead, at any time.

If you are visiting Powis Castle with a dog, please do drive directly to the National Trust car park.

We kindly ask all visitors to respect these arrangements when planning their visit to Powis Castle and we are grateful for your support in helping protect this historic landscape and its wildlife.

🏰 Half-Term Fun at Ludlow Castle!

Looking for a memorable way to entertain the whole family this half term? Step back in time at Ludlow Castle and enjoy a week of light‑hearted medieval games.

From Saturday 23 to Sunday 31 May, head to the Outer Bailey to challenge friends and family to a variety of traditional pastimes.

Some will feel familiar, others may be completely new — but all offer plenty of laughter and friendly rivalry.

Test your strength with a tug‑of‑war, aim carefully at quoits, or slow things down with chess and noughts and crosses. For something a little different, discover lesser‑known medieval games such as Queek and try your hand at something new.

All activities are free with castle entry — simply bring a sense of fun and a healthy competitive spirit.

Standard admission applies.
