The apple doesn’t fall far! Here’s my dad, Andrew Wheatley in the mid 80’s as a young agent. He managed offices for Mays Residential, Horner Hill, King & Chasemore and Nationwide in Oxshott, Cobham and Wimbledon Village. By the end of the decade he’d moved onto work for looking after their portfolio. The business of estate agency really hasn’t changed much in those 40 years, it’s still all about people connections, negotiating and managing the transaction. Newspaper ads have been replaced by and applicants boxes are now on CRM’s. The market is of course a vastly different arena. Who remembers self cert mortgages!? I would have been around 12-13 yrs old at this time and already learning the ropes by printing dad’s details on a Saturday and pounding the streets delivering leaflets!
