The Conservatives are often criticised because of our β14 years in governmentβ, and perhaps no one more than a Conservative Party member is as frustrated and disappointed about some of the things that happened during those 14 years. But I do think we need to remember some things that some choose to forget.
Some forget that in 2010 the Conservatives came to power after the greatest financial crash since 1929.
Some (especially the Liberal Democrats) forget that the first five years were spent in coalition, clearing up Labourβs mess.
Some forget that in 2016 the Conservatives were tasked with beginning the Brexit process, honouring the decision of the British people to make Britain a free and Independent sovereign nation once again.
Some forget that in 2020, following the end of the Brexit process, the Conservatives then had to deal with the first pandemic in 100 years. Almost no government across the globe that oversaw Covid-19 survived the following election.
Some forget that while immigration was too high, many who came between 2020 and 2024 were genuine refugees from Ukraine, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan.
Some forget that in 2022 the world was rocked by the first European land war since 1945, and no party has been as stalwart in its defence of Ukraine as the Conservatives.
Some forget that although we lost the 2024 election, we did win either a majority or minority government in 2010, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
These arenβt excuses, and many things could have been handled better, but we do believe in learning from mistakes and rebuilding.
Under Kemi Badenoch, that is exactly what we are doing, and we believe she is the best-placed person to be Prime Minister, leading a truly Conservative government.
We are still the party of Baldwin, Thatcher, and of course the great Winston Churchill.
We will fight every day to regain the trust of the British people and to push the values of law and order, economic competence, the Union, the family, a strong defence, and King and Country.
The best place to enact change is from within. That is why you should join the Conservatives and be part of the change.
