Spooky season is creeping closer… and one of Whitby’s biggest Halloween events is now just over a month away. 🎃👻

From Friday 23 to Saturday 31 October, the haunting ruins of Whitby Abbey will be transformed after dark for Illuminated Whitby Abbey 2026.

As darkness falls over the East Cliff, the towering Gothic ruins will be flooded with dramatic illuminations, creating one of the most atmospheric sights of the year in Whitby.

And, of course, Halloween in Whitby wouldn’t be complete without Dracula. 🧛

This year, the event will feature brand-new interactive family performances inspired by Bram Stoker’s famous story, inviting visitors to step into the tale beneath the shadow of the Abbey.

There’ll also be food and drink available on site, plenty of opportunities for eerie photographs and the rare chance to explore one of Whitby’s most iconic landmarks after dark.
