Sorry to see that this years Victorian Weekend is to be cancelled. But it makes sense to keep everyone safe. There is always next year.
It is with great regret that, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the decision has been taken to CANCEL Victorian Weekend 2020. This has been a very difficult decision, but our overriding concern is for the health and well being of our visitors and local community.
The success of Victorian Weekend is heavily dependent on the atmosphere created by the large numbers of people who attend and fill our narrow village streets, enjoying a wide variety of events both outside (weather permitting) and especially inside – mostly in small, cosy venues, where any measure of social distancing is difficult if not impossible. With a degree of Covid-safe precautions likely to be in place for the remainder of the year, the measures which would need to be implemented would not be conducive to a fun-filled day out for visitors, and would put our volunteers who are organising and running events under additional pressure.
However, please be assured that the village will still be decorated in all its festive glory throughout December into the New Year, including the stunning Christmas wreaths. Subject to Government advice at the time, the village will still be welcoming visitors during this period to soak up the festive atmosphere and enjoy a relaxed and cosy pre-Christmas break.
Victorian Weekend - Festive Fun, Past and Present will be back stronger than ever on 3rd, 4th, 5th December 2021!
