โ The truth behind the successโฆ โ
Itโs easy to see results online and forget the journey it took to get there โ the setbacks, sacrifices, and late nights that no one sees. So, we wanted to take it back and share a bit of our story.
๐คฉ We joined the Property Abundance mentorship in August 2023. It was a massive leap of faith โ and a huge investment with money we honestly didnโt have at the time. But we believed in what we wanted to build.
The first few months were tough. We spent four months networking โ every week, wherever we could find an event. For Laura N, it was a massive personal challenge. Networking with severe anxiety meant every pitch felt impossible. But she did it, week after week, sometimes alone while I was still working full-time to keep us going. ๐ช๐ผ
Then came our first breakthrough โ one landlord took a chance on us. That was our first rent-to-rent property, launched in November 2023, right at the toughest time for serviced accommodation. It didnโt make a profit for four months, but we didnโt stop.
Five months later, after relentless effort, we secured another property. Then suddenly, they came one after another. Thanks to the relationships and trust weโd built, we launched four new properties in May and June 2024, and they made profit within two months.
From there, momentum started to build. Through one five-minute coffee chat at an event (yes, really!), we secured investment for 10 rent-to-rent properties โ proof that showing up consistently can change everything.
Soon after, we were running five profitable serviced accommodation properties, building strong partnerships with contractors and companies for longer-term bookings. Within three months, I was able to leave my full-time job and join Laura N in the business full-time.
But it hasnโt all been smooth sailing โ weโve had a property repossessed, dealt with a break-in, handled double bookings, surprise guests, and overflowing bins. Every challenge has tested us, but itโs also shaped us.
Fast forward to today โ we now run three successful serviced accommodation businesses, managing over 20 properties, with 60% long-term direct bookings and over 85% occupancy, even through the winter months.
Weโve worked hard to build the life we once only dreamed of โ one that gives us financial and time freedom, and the chance to keep growing.
Itโs been far from easy. But weโre proud of how far weโve come and excited for whatโs next.
Because nothing was handed to us.
