Whitley Gardens

Whitley Gardens Garden maintenance and design My name is Duncan and I'm happy to offer garden services across the North East of England, based out of Whitley Bay.

From regular garden maintenance and one off garden tidy ups, through to re-design and re-modelling of existing gardens I'd be happy to talk through your needs and offer my advise. I'm efficient, reliable and happy to help.

I wanted to pass on a big thank you to all my customers who have been with me since lock down began.

Thank you for having me in your gardens. Thank you for your patience in this time when my time is stretched with family and home schooling.

It has been a lovely spending more time as a family whilst I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to work through March, April, May and June. I have though, had to cut my hours back at a time when demand is very high.

I stopped visiting any garden where I had to pass through the house and I am sorry I haven't been in a position to help. I've missed these gardens and the people who come with them. Some I'm sure I'll return to. Some perhaps not now, which is a sadness. But I'm extremely grateful for the work I have.

I've only been working in gardens I can access easily and so I've felt privileged to have gardened for people who are self isolating. Some I've been a chat through a window, others I've seen no-one at all but the garden has been left looking beautiful, which I hope has helped.

There have been front gardens and back gardens, patios and driveways, hedges and healthy lawns, scarifying and helping lawns. Weeding and shaping beds. Lots of wildlife, so many birds. Daffodils, Tulips, Montana Clematis, Ceanothus and so much more and then, with June, the Peony and the arrival of summer.

I wish you all well 🙏

Yesterday we were at
It was a great day full of wonderful sights (I'll post some of those later!), but principally we were there to cheer on our friend Rachael who was involved in the design of the lovely "Mandala" garden in association with Mindfulness in Schools Project.
The garden is going on to a school in South London. Our kids loved it!

In amongst a crazy busy day today I had the pleasure of collecting these beauties.
9 x 1 meter tall box cones and 26 x small laurel shrubs.
They are part of a redesign and replant using some existing plants and some new.
Can't wait to get them in the ground!

It's been a busy and varied week from helping out with turfing (this was one of three piles of turf), to pruning back a number of buddleias and then the removal of this hedge which made the most amazing difference to the front of the house.

I've also been involved with the design of a rather wonderful 15m flower bed which I will post about separately.

April's diary already has lots in it, but if you would like help with a local garden I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Many thanks,
Duncan

So good to be planting today!
I've been giving a Whitley Bay front garden a kerb side face lift. Feels good to be planting new season plants with the sun shining.
Have a good day.

What a beautiful day to be outdoors!

I've been taking measurement today. Lots of them! It really helps to have a day with no rain when taking measurements and writing them down, so you can take your time and work your way around a garden methodically and measure out what is there so the planning of future planting can begin.

There's something very satisfying about slowly getting the shape of a garden down on paper. Now it's time to draw it up!

Bookings are coming in and I'm getting busy surprisingly quickly, so if you would like any help with your garden please don't hesitate in contacting me.

Many thanks,

Duncan
