✨ Resident Spotlight ✨

This week we're shining the spotlight on David Bradley, a resident at The Red House Retirement Village Ripon, who recently shared stories from his remarkable 45-year career with Bedford Trucks and General Motors.

In his talk, 'Route 66 and Beyond', David took residents on a journey through his career, from starting as an apprentice in Luton to working across Germany, Australia and the United States, where he went on to become Assistant Chief Engineer at General Motors. 🚛

From vehicle development and international travel to life in Michigan, David's experiences sparked plenty of interest and fascinating conversation.

A huge thank you to David for sharing his incredible story and giving us a glimpse into a career that truly went the distance. 👏

Last week, we celebrated an exciting new chapter at Boughton Hall, as residents and guests came together to mark the launch of Freedom Living 🥂

It was a lovely day spent exploring the village, listening to live music and enjoying some great food. We also heard from our CEO, James Cobb, who explained the importance of independence and community in later-life living, alongside the vision behind Freedom Living.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the celebration so special, with a special shoutout to Velvet Peony for the incredible flowers and Homemade by Hannah for the delicious branded biscuits.

Wellbeing starts with just 10 minutes 🌷

Residents at Boughton Hall have been embracing our new daily wellbeing initiative, 10 at 10, a chance to come together each day for activities designed to boost wellbeing and encourage connection.

From bird watching in the gardens and identifying spring blooms, to puzzles, singing, dancing and meditation, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Sessions may start as just 10 minutes, but they often turn into much longer chats over a well-earned coffee ☕

This week we’re putting the spotlight on Margaret, who shared stories from her fascinating career as a teacher in Essex and Knaresborough. From teaching five-year-olds to her lifelong love of music, Margaret took us on a journey through some truly special memories.

There were plenty of laughs as she recalled the hilarious and honest reactions only young children can give, alongside musical interludes that reflected different moments throughout her career 🎶

A huge thank you to Margaret for such a lovely afternoon, and to The Red House team for arranging tea and cakes for everyone ☕🍰

We're proud to create spaces that not only our residents can enjoy, but the local wildlife too - which is why we're spotlighting our green spaces, and all that they offer 💚

Throwing it back to our brand launch event at Mount Battenhall! What an incredible afternoon it was, welcoming so many wonderful people to experience our beautiful grounds and be among the first to see Freedom Villages come to life. From the stunning music by the talented string quartet from Kimichi Worcester to the gorgeous floral displays by Witley Park Floristry, every detail made the day truly special. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this exciting new chapter! 💚
