Another day dodging the rain. We did 3 trips to the dump with someone else's rubbish (fly tipping). At least we got to use the trailer with my new mesh sides. I think we are getting there now we can see past the end of the bungalow. If its OK tomorrow I will fit a tow hitch to the back of our digger so I can tow the tree shredder around the back of the bungalow and start shredding the branches and finish the side. We bought a new stump grinder that will be delivered next week. We decided to buy a brand new one because of the amount of tree stumps we will have. I can't wait to use it. The machine we bought will go down 16" below ground. Which is great then I can get our stone crusher out and start crushing the hardcore for the base of our drive.

We didn't do much today because of the non stop rain. I decided to make my wire mess trailer sides. I bought 3 mesh panels from marketplace they just needed to be cut down to fit the trailer and welded together. We also ordered a industrial stump grinder and it will be delivered to Hartlepool so I will be picking that up at some point. We have 55 trees to cut down before they fall down. We have already found a few stumps whilst clearing the grounds. We will be replacing the trees with thick hedgerows for all the birds. I know it's sad cutting down trees but these trees are very tall and 4 of them have already toppled over luckily they have not hit the bungalow yet. We won't be taking them all down in one go. The shredder chainsaw and stump grinder will be working over time😆 I will sharpen the chainsaw ready for action.

Another day clearing the tree branches. This time we raked the floor after and covered the floor with the tree shavings. Hopefully it will cover all the mud up. We have decided to clear all the way along the side of the bungalow before we attempt to take down these 2 big trees by the entrance.

It rained most of yesterday, but we managed to get the wheelbarrow out and did five barrow loads of rocks, stones, and roof tiles. My pile of hardcore is getting quite large now. Today the sun has come out so we are getting the muncher back out and going to clear all the rest of the branches. My Lorna has worked so hard I bet she can't wait to get back to work for a change of scenery.

The wind is picking up big time. We have just had to move the motorhome next to the cafe for a bit of protection. I didn't want the wind to rip off the solar panels. I might even throw over a couple of long straps tomorrow better safe than sorry. The way the panels are held on if the wind ripped them off it would cause major damage to the roof. The rain would cause even more damage.

We bought a second-hand industrial-sized branch muncher but I had problems with it keep jamming up so we didn't use it and wrote it off as a waste of money. Yesterday I decided to have a play with a control k**b on the side of the machine it was jammed and wouldn't turn. Once I freed it up I could adjust the speed of the rollers and I finally got it working. Today the weather has been terrible but I was itching to have a go with the muncher. My god what a difference we cleared a big pile of branches and were making our way through the next big pile when we ran out of fuel so we called it a day. Tomorrow we will get the motorised wheelbarrow out and clear the Huge pile of rocks and stones over to my ever-growing pile of hardcore. I can't wait to clear this area so I can get our cherry picker in to start removing the 2 trees where our drive will go. There is a lot of work to do but we need a drive so the delivery lorries can get in and out. Once the trees are out of the way we will get the stone crusher out and crush the hardcore for the drive.

Lorna and I decided to work outside today as there was no rain. We had a delivery of wood on Friday for the bungalow floor and the delivery van couldn't get close enough because of the cut-down tree branches in the way. So we are going to clear an area for delivery trucks to reverse up to the bungalow, which saves a lot of back and forth. The more we dig the more rubbish we find. Hey, ho, it will soon be a memory. We should have taken before pics but we forgot.

Hi, we are Mike and Lorna. One day, we decided to drive as far North as possible to buy a business that would take all of our time, money, and patience. Here we are. We found a rundown petrol station with a bungalow that sits on the NC500 just North of Wick. We found an architect who has drawn up new plans for the cafe ice parlour and a small accommodation block. Once the cafe is up and running we will apply for permission for more accommodation blocks. We have mentioned the project on several pages and several people have said that we should do a page to keep everyone up-to-date with the progress. We have also been told to create a YouTube channel blimey I have so much to do i won't have time to do everything. We will be renovating the bungalow whilst we are waiting for planning permission for the cafe. We started cleaning up the place 6 months ago. My god what a mess this place was left in. So hopefully you will follow us and enjoy the pics as we go. The cafe will be biker-themed as we are bikers.
