🗓️Today is National Conflict Resolution Day
🐴Conflict resolution isn’t just about how we communicate with others, it’s also an important part of our relationship with horses.

🐎Every horse is an individual, with their own personality, emotions, and way of communicating.

🐴Sometimes, misunderstandings happen, and it’s our responsibility to pause, listen, and try to understand what our horse is telling us rather than simply reacting.

🐴In riding and training, conflict resolution is about planning. Setting you horse up for success. Replacing frustration with patience, pressure with understanding, and confrontation with communication.

🐴When a horse struggles, resists, or doesn’t understand what we’re asking, it’s an opportunity to take a step back, reassess, and find a better way forward. By building trust, being consistent, and listening to the subtle signals our horses give us, we can develop a stronger partnership built on mutual respect.

💚The best partnerships aren’t built on winning an argument, they’re built on understanding each other. 🐎

🎓There are lots of books and resources available to help understand equine behaviour and new scientific studies are significantly informing new ideas, but you cannot beat hands on experience with a range of different horses to improve your understanding. Try our groundwork lessons for an opportunity to learn how to listen to your horse and work with a variety of different horses.

Half term is getting closer. Here is a sample of some of the fun activities we got up to during our summer holiday residential camps and pony days.

We help children to learn all about riding and caring for ponies as well as having fun trying out lots of different equestrian sports and games.

The different activities encourage a love of looking after animals safely as well as building self-confidence and responsibility. Fun, educational and engaging.

If there is a specific activity you want to try, please let us know as the schedules are not yet confirmed. How about horseback archery, carriage driving, western roping, horseball, polocrossse, side-saddle, trick riding, equisimulators, vaulting, obstacle course or polo?

You can book online now for our October half term and Christmas Holiday pony days, or find more info on our website by following the link in bio.

What a lovely day for a drive out. Carriage driving is an excellent way to help smaller ponies to stay fit.
It is a useful skill for equestrians of all ages to master.
It really helps to refine your rein aids which can improve your riding, and because you can see all of the horse’s back is is easier to focus on straightness while listening to the hoofbeats on the road helps with developing a good feel for rhythm.
Have you tried carriage driving?
If you would like to learn more, you can have a read of the carriage driving page on our website or book a lesson.
Once you get the hang of it there are lots of ways to progress. You might like to try different carriage driving competitions or if it gets too easy, you can keep adding more horses.
Have you tried driving pairs or teams?

horses produce approximately 40 litres of saliva a day to help digest their high fibre diet. Saliva acts as natural antacid to buffer their stomach acid which is continually produced. It is important that they always have access to clean fresh water.
