How we made people feel and the impact we’ve had is what takes us to the next chapter of our business journey.

The customer service. The experience. The excitement. All the details. Solving problem. And above all else, knowing you can trust us.

Rotherham Escapes is where we learned a lot. But it certainly isn’t where our story ends.

The next chapter is getting closer and we will be revealing all between now and the end of August in some very exciting posts 💫

As always we are grateful for our little community on here. We hope you are as excited as we are.

Running a property of this size was HARD work.

Would I run another Rotherham House?

Probably not.

The pool needed constant attention. Turnaround days were relentless. My phone may as well have been surgically attached to my hand. Things broke at the worst possible moment. Plans changed. Requests came in at the last minute. And when you’ve got a house full of guests who’ve paid good money for a special weekend, there’s no saying “I’ll sort it Monday.”

You sort it.

But here’s the funny thing…

Those were also the years that taught us the most about hospitality.

We learned how important communication is.

How much the little details matter.

How reassuring it is for a customer to know there’s an actual person at the end of the phone.

How to solve a problem without making it their problem.

And that when somebody trusts you with an occasion they’ve been looking forward to for months, you do everything you can to get it right.

Was it stressful sometimes? Absolutely.

Did we love seeing that house full of people making memories? Every single time.

And the biggest thing Rotherham Escapes taught us was something we hadn’t really expected…

We love looking after people.

Funny how one chapter has a habit of leading you towards the next…

Today we filled Rotherham House with nearly 40 little people for one final summer get together before preschool and school begin in September.

One last splash before school…

Heated swimming pool. Bouncy castle. Soft play. Pizzas. Music. House full of people.

And we loved every minute of it.

Because somewhere along the way the Rotherham Escapes team realised something about ourselves…

We really love looking after people🫶🏼
We love bringing people together.
We love organising things.
We love thinking about the little details.
We love seeing people walk through the door and knowing they’re about to have a brilliant time.

It was at the heart of everything we created with Rotherham Escapes and, although things around here are about to look a little different now, that part of us isn’t going anywhere.

In fact, you might be seeing a lot more of it. 👀

For now, though, this one was for the kids.

One last splash. One very full house. And a lot of very happy little faces. ❤️

Because the best memories usually start with bringing people together.

That’s the best clue you’re getting to our brand new business for now. But stay tuned over the next few weeks as we will be announcing more news 🙊👏🏼

Today marks the final chapter of Rotherham Escapes at Rotherham House. What started as an idea, quickly became something bigger than we ever imagined.

RH was never just a house. It was about bringing something different to WIDNES.

Over the last year we’ve worked with local businesses, sponsored local sports teams , hosted networking events and created work opportunities and brought new people into the town. All of which we are incredibly proud of.

To all of you who’ve booked to stay with us, defended us, supported us or recommended us - thank you.

And finally, I’d like to dedicate this post to my dad, Jim Rotherham. He was worked tirelessly at the age of 74, to keep RH going. He did all the cleaning himself up until two months ago. Day in, day out. Never letting a guest down and ensuring the whole place was spotless before every stay.

This chapter may be closing but the creativity and passion behind it isn’t. This page will now transition into something really exciting. I’ve got some plans in place so watch this space 🖤

If you ask us honestly, running an Airbnb at a property of this size has been a huge task and that’s putting it lightly 😂.

I’ll never take it for granted when I stay somewhere now and they tell you ‘your room isn’t quite ready’

Washing all the towels, the bedding, stains on sofas, cleaning the ovens/BBQ, clearing away rubbish and bottles, (sometimes clearing away urine from plastic bottles!!), cleaning the pool, popcorn machine, kitchen, you name it. It’s been an eye opener but it’s been good fun.

So tomorrow is our final day of operating as Rotherham Escapes at Rotherham House. Who knows what’s next for this brand, but all we know is we’ve put our heart and soul into this business so far and we’ve given people the opportunity to experience RH. So we are nothing short of proud of this🖤

Only two more weeks until RH Airbnb closes its doors. We have three groups staying during that time and we are busy perfecting the house just as we did for every other stay.

Between now and then, we have three viewings too. We are excited for the potential new owners/tenants as we know how much they will enjoy the house and everything it has to offer.

What will you miss most about Rotherham House?
We will certainly miss the garden & pool area.

Who knows what’s next for Rotherham Escapes but for now, we are closing our doors. Another small business closed down by the local council.

Our goal was always simple - to let out Rotherham House occasionally, and let others come and enjoy everything the house has to offer… despite it still being the primary residence of The Rotherham family.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with our suppliers, and our team has been absolutely incredible. You know who you are 🤍.

Thank you to each and every one of you who have stayed with us and made a difference to our business.

We hope to be back soon with another offering.
And for those of you who we’ve had to cancel, we are truly sorry from the bottom of our hearts. It has been completely out of our control.
