The three crates of Neville Copeman crab apples pressed for cider. The bottles will be left in the shed with the lids cracked off to let the fermentation gas out. A few bottles are in the freezer to take out for apple juice, very sweet, but sharp and tangy zesty. Needs diluting 50%

Talking of bees....one of the hives must have lost it's queen and died out. Wax moth infestation or what! I put the frames and box in the chicken runs and they feasted on the larva. This was a swarm last year that took over the hive, the queens in swarms are always older so if they die before the hive decides to replace her no new queen comes through

Picked three crates of Neville Copeman crab apple for juice. 3 crates off 3 trees. Will mix them with Bloody Butcher, Jeff Aubaine apples. No Emneth Early this year as they are all one the floor over ripe!

Got the Perushenski off from 6 8 year trees. Nuts are very good quality, size with no rot or blight despite the drought and heat, something this variety is famed for.

The Perushenski have started to be raided so they will have to be harvested early! Not sure if it's squirrels or rats

Not a bad show of walnuts on most trees, this is Perushenski. Only Izvor and Saturn seem to have shed theirs due to drought. Good growth on every variety though

This year's honey harvest. Just took about a 2/3rds from the supers this year, usually 3/4ers is taken but as it is such a dry year it is likely plants will not likely be producing a lot late summer/ Autumn for the bees to replenish stores. We don't feed the hives and this restrictive harvest method seems to have kept strong vigorous colonies for 5 years now
