Pigeons are causing some real damage on the walnuts again this year! They have developed a taste for the young leaves, much like they have for plums, peaches and almonds. Trouble is not only do they strip the foliage off they also smash the branches...usually the lead growth, so messing the tree up. They walk up the rows of the young grafts eating the foliage, but also try to land on them and break them. I think I and going to have to employ some scarecrows as shooting them is relentless time consumption.

last year's 3000 walnut seedlings for sale and grafting root stocks. It's taken nearly two weeks to dig all the docks, nettles and deep rooted weeds out so I could hoe and rotovate. They have all been suckered and singled out to grow tall and straight hopefully
