The C-word is coming… and no, we don't mean Christmas. 🎄👀

6 October 2026 Awaab's Law comes into force in Scotland.

The year just keeps getting better for the JDN team 🙌

We’ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of years looking at how we can make JDN the best place we possibly can to work.

First came our employee benefits package, including private healthcare for our staff and their families, death in service cover and other benefits to give our team that extra bit of security.

Then, at the start of 2026, we moved to a four-day working week. It was a big change for a small business, but giving everyone a better work-life balance and more time with their families was important to us.

And now we’ve got another one to add…

Last week, JDN was officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer! 🎉

We’re a small family-run business and we genuinely wouldn’t be where we are without the people who work alongside us every day. We’ve got a great wee team, and we want them to feel valued, looked after and properly rewarded for the work they do.

A VERY PROUD JDN MOMENT

This photo means a little more to us today.
A much younger Lewis, out helping his dad, overalls on and knocking in the hours while we were working hard to get JDN off the ground.

Even back then, he wanted to be involved. He grew up around the vans, the tools, the jobs and all the hard graft that went into building the business and he's always had a genuine passion for JDN.

Fast forward all these years and, in April, Lewis officially joined the team as an employee.

Today, he takes his next big step and starts college to undertake his apprenticeship.

There's something pretty special about looking back at this wee boy sitting in the van helping his dad build a business, and now watching him begin to build a career of his own within it.

For us, that's what being a family business is all about.

We're incredibly proud of the young man you've become, Lewis, and we can't wait to see what you make of the opportunity ahead of you.

From helping Dad get JDN off the ground, to becoming part of its future.

🦎 Well... that's a first!

As we kick off another week tackling a property affected by damp and timber decay, our strip-out works uncovered an unexpected little resident...
Meet our tiny site supervisor! 😅

Thankfully, this wee Common Lizard was completely unharmed. After a quick photoshoot, he was carefully relocated outside to a safe spot where he belongs.

It's not every day you find wildlife during preservation works, but it certainly brightened up a Monday morning!

Right... break's over for him, and it's back to replacing rotten timbers for us! 💪🔨

Normally, when we hear there's going to be flooding across Scotland, we're reaching for the drying equipment.

This time, it might just be a flood of tears...

To celebrate Scotland's qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the official World Cup Bank Holiday, JDN Property Services will be closed on Monday 15 June 2026.

No damp surveys. No flood restoration. No insurance claims.

Just a nation enjoying a moment that's been nearly 30 years in the making.

We'll be back on Tuesday.
