🍂 Harvest Festival at Bushfield Court – supporting our wider community! 🧡

Our Harvest Festival collections are well underway, and our residents and team have already been incredibly generous! 🛒🥫🐾

This year we’ve set up two community donation stations – one collecting food and essential items to support local families, and another collecting food, treats, blankets, toys and supplies for our local Dogs Home. 🐶❤️

For us, good neighbourhood management is about much more than what happens within the walls of Bushfield Court. It’s about being part of the wider community, building connections and creating opportunities for our residents, colleagues and neighbours to make a positive contribution locally.

Our little shopping trolleys are already filling up nicely, and there’s still plenty of room for more! 🙌

It might be a tin of food, a packet of pasta, a blanket or a bag of dog treats – a little really does go a long way. 🍁

💚 Inclusivity isn’t always about the fun stuff…

We love sharing the fun side of life at Bushfield Court – activities, trips, celebrations, coffee mornings and bringing people together ❤️ But inclusivity is also about recognising the things that aren’t always so easy to talk about.

September is Su***de Awareness Month, so this month we’ve dedicated part of our resident notice board to raising awareness around su***de prevention and mental health.

Because mental health doesn’t discriminate. It can affect anyone, at any age.

For older people in particular, things like bereavement, loneliness, changes in physical health, reduced mobility, loss of independence or simply feeling disconnected can all have a huge impact on emotional wellbeing.

Our posters focus on 💚 It’s OK to Talk, understanding suicidal thoughts in older people, looking after your mental health, recognising when someone might be struggling, and most importantly – where to go for help and support.

Sometimes being inclusive means putting on an activity and making sure everyone can join in.

Sometimes it means starting a conversation about something that people might otherwise be afraid to talk about.

And sometimes it’s simply reminding someone that there is always somebody willing to listen. 💚

We might not always be able to see when someone is struggling, which is why a simple “Are you OK?” can mean more than we realise.

Talk. Listen. Check in. Be kind. 💚

⛪❤️ A lovely morning out for our residents!

Some of our residents were kindly invited along to a service at our local church, and what a lovely time they had. It was a great opportunity to get out, enjoy the service and spend time together within our local community. 🥰

The morning was made even more special as our lovely Mary is celebrating her 94th birthday! 🎂🎉 We managed to capture this wonderful photo of Mary with the Bishop – a lovely memory from her special day. ❤️📸

We also heard that the Bishop is soon to be retiring… which Marie saw as the perfect opportunity to do a little bit of Housing 21 recruitment! 😂🏡

She invited him to consider coming to live at a Housing 21 court when he retires… and he actually seemed quite keen to know more! 👀🤣

There really is no stopping Marie – even at church she’s promoting the benefits of Housing 21! 😂👏

A wonderful morning of community, friendship, celebration and lots of smiles.

And a very Happy 94th Birthday to Mary! 🎂🥳❤️

Bishop… we’ll keep a flat in mind! 😉🏡

❤️ Sometimes, a little support can make a BIG difference! ❤️

One of our lovely new residents recently moved into Bushfield Court having never claimed any benefits before – including Housing Benefit.

With a little guidance and support from our Housing Team, within just 8 weeks she is now receiving full Housing Benefit, along with two other benefits she is entitled to. 🏡✨

The difference this has made is about so much more than money. It has given her greater financial security, a little more freedom and the opportunity to enjoy her golden years without quite as much worry. ❤️

As a thank you, she surprised the team with a lovely box of biscuits! 🍪🥰

They certainly weren’t needed – we love what we do, and we do what we love. But they were very gratefully received! 😂

It’s moments like this that remind us what housing is really about – supporting people, building relationships and helping residents get the most out of their home and their life.

👏 Teamwork really does make the dream work! 🏡❤️

🚁 Another fantastic collection for Midlands Air Ambulance! ❤️

Today we welcomed Robin from Midlands Air Ambulance to collect another amazing amount of donations from our donation station.

Robin spent some time chatting with us about how the money raised through both the collection tins and our donation station helps to support the vital, lifesaving work they do.

Thanks to the generosity of our residents, staff, families and visitors, our donation station has now been emptied twice in just the last few weeks! 👏

We were amazed to learn that each black bag of donations raises an average of around £15 for the charity.

Today alone, Robin collected an incredible 21 bags – worth approximately £350! 🤩

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to donate. It just goes to show how unwanted items can be turned into something that makes a real difference. 💙

📚 A huge thank you to Salisbury Poultry! 📚

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the generosity of the team at Salisbury Poultry, who have kindly donated an amazing 90 books to help stock our resident library! 📖❤️

As if that wasn’t enough, they are also sponsoring one of the awards at our upcoming awards ceremony 🏆✨

It’s fantastic to have the support of local businesses who genuinely want to get involved and make a difference to our residents and community.

A massive thank you to everyone at Salisbury Poultry for your continued support and generosity – we really do appreciate it! 💙

What a fantastic way to round off a brilliant week celebrating everything Black Country! 🖤💛

We finished the week in style with a game of bowls, some lovely grub and a fantastic singer to keep us entertained! 🎶☀️

Even the heatwave couldn’t stop our residents (or staff!) from getting up and having a dance. 💃🕺 There were definitely some questionable moves from the team and the Chicken Factory guys… but we’ll say no more about those! 😂😂

A HUGE thank you to the team for pulling together in this heat and absolutely pulling it out of the bag to make today such a great one for our residents. ❤️👏

And a massive thank you to The Chicken Factory and Jennings Funeral Directors for volunteering their time and coming along to support us today. It really is appreciated. ❤️

A brilliant end to a brilliant week — plenty of smiles, laughter, dancing and Black Country spirit! 🖤💛

🛶 Making memories along the way! 💜

What a lovely evening for our Land’s End to John O’Groats Challengers, who swapped walking miles for canal miles and enjoyed a well-deserved three-hour cruise as they edge ever closer to the end of their fabulous challenge.

With beautiful scenery, fish and chips halfway along 🐟🍟 and even a few kingfishers making an appearance, it was a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy each other’s company and reflect on just how far everyone has come.

And the kindness continued along the way! 💜 Brenda couldn’t resist a spot of blackberry picking from the hedgerows, collecting some especially for Pat — another lovely little random act of kindness that made us smile.

It’s moments like these — sharing experiences, looking out for one another and having plenty of fun along the way — that make this challenge so special.

The finish line is getting closer… but there are still more memories to be made! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️👏
