Pocket Money Cards began when a friend described how her ex-husband's idea of helping around the house consisted of watching the Simpsons while she did the work. He was busy 'looking after the children,' plonking them on the sofa to get them to watch The Simpsons, too.
We both thought a card game could help. Pocket Money Cards contains 80 different household chore cards and ten blank Write Your Own cards, as well as the Instructions card and ten Excuses! cards.
The game is backed by Harvard University's Grant study that correlates children helping around the house with them becoming healthy, happy, balanced and self-reliant adults. It sounds obvious, but it's nice to have a genuine scientific validation of the idea!
