This really is the final countdown!! Please consider making a box - we are still short!

Most of our drop off points will stop taking boxes at close of play tomorrow, Saturday.

However, our central store will be open Sunday and Monday, as will The Fairway and Tesco on Abbeydale Road until 4pm.

We are very, very short of boxes so I hope this extra time gives you chance to make one up, or even a gift bag. And don't worry if it's not full, we have items to top it up. In fact, we have lots of loose stuff, it is boxes we are short of.

Many of you have told us you haven't been seeing our posts, despite us posting daily since August - apologies for that, we have no idea what Facebook is doing!

We know that sharing helps so please share!

This is one of the rooms we have available in our supported housing in Sheffield, for a single person experiencing homelessness and needing housing with support.

Rooms available in supported housing:

We are a small charity that provides shared supported housing in Sheffield. This is for single people experiencing homelessness, who have additional support needs. The resident’s weekly service charge is £24.31 per week.

Referrals can be made via our website: https://choicehousingtrust.org/

Our accommodation includes:
• Own private (lockable) room in a shared house/flat, with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
• Shared use of kitchen facilities, including cooker, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave.
• All utility bills included (except TV licence).
• Designated kitchen cupboard space.
• Unlimited free 500MB Wi-Fi broadband.
• High security door locks, and steel reinforced bedroom fire doors and frames.
• Residents can be provided with a free SIM card for their mobile phone (free calls, texts, and data).
• Most bathrooms have an over-bath shower, or separate shower.
• Weekly cleaning of communal areas, and regular garden maintenance.
• Bedrooms are fully kitted out with drawers (and/or other storage space), and residents are provided with bedding, towels, and complimentary toiletries.
• A welcome food parcel can be provided to new residents, if required.
• A designated experienced Support Worker is allocated to each resident.
• Gas central heating and hot water provided 24 hours a day.
• Weekly property safety checks and prompt repairs.
• CCTV at all properties for added safety and security.
• Individually tailored support plan to meet the resident’s assessed support needs and aspirations.

The occupancy fee (rent) is paid via Housing Benefit and the portion of the service charge (bills, not eligible for Housing Benefit) payable by the resident will be £24.31 per week, providing that Housing Benefit is in payment with no deductions.

Our dispersed supported shared housing model provides a possible solution that can help to reduce homelessness:

• Residents are provided with a free SIM card for their mobile phone.

• Weekly cleaning of communal areas, and regular garden maintenance.

• Bedrooms are fully kitted out with drawers (and/or other storage space), and residents are provided with bedding, towels, and complimentary toiletries.

• A welcome food parcel can be provided to new residents, if required.

• A designated experienced Support Worker is allocated to each resident and will support them through their occupancy with us.

• Gas central heating and hot water provided 24 hours a day.

• Weekly property safety checks and prompt repairs.

• CCTV at some properties for added safety and security.

• Individually tailored (person centred) support plan to meet the resident’s support needs and aspirations.

The rent is paid via Housing Benefit and the individual pays an affordable weekly service charge towards the bills (e.g. bills, not eligible for Housing Benefit).

Transforming Lives: Supported Shared Housing for Homeless Individuals in Sheffield

Choice Housing Trust (CHT) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing safe, supported shared housing in Sheffield for single people experiencing homelessness. Many of those we assist also face additional challenges such as mental health issues, drug or alcohol dependency, learning difficulties, or fleeing domestic violence/abuse, and our mission is to offer not only a roof over their heads but also the support they need to rebuild their lives.
