Homelessness is a housing issue (not an immigration issue).

We get asked about this a lot. The belief that immigration is causing British people to become homeless is categorically false. ❌

Here’s the truth:

- Undocumented migrants cannot join council waiting lists or access any statutory housing support or benefits. They also don’t have a right to rent privately in the UK. 📋

- Around 90% of UK social housing goes to British nationals. (Approx 6% goes to people who have been granted status in the UK)👥

- Decades of UK government’s policies have resulted in council homes being sold and not replaced, meaning that millions of British people are left waiting for housing, whilst unable to afford private rent. 💵📈

Blaming our vulnerable neighbours won’t build a single new home. Division and hatred towards others won’t end rough sleeping. 🏠🤲🏻🤲🏾
