Gozinaki is a Georgian oriental sweet. It is made of hard-baked or fried nuts or seeds mixed with melted honey or sugar syrup. Various nuts are used for cooking: walnuts, almonds, peanuts; gozinaki made from sunflower seeds are also very popular.

Thanks to these ingredients, this Georgian sweet is very nourishing and healthy. To be in Georgia and not to have a taste of gozinaki is a serious oversight!

Chalaadi is a glacier, the closest one to Mestia. It’s 12 km (7.45 mi) away, so it’s really easy to get there from our chalet, even on foot. This trail is quite simple; the height difference is very small.

On the way to the glacier picturesque views await you: snowy peaks around, and after a suspension bridge the trail will lead you into a large forest, so the walk will be as nice as useful. Amazing photos of the trail and the glacier itself are guaranteed!

The Transcaucasian Trail is a major project that covers several regions. It length is more than 3000 km (1864 mi). The trail is planned to go through the mountains of Greater Caucasus and Lesser Caucasus and connect about 20 national parks and protected areas.

Right now in Georgia you can walk along one of the sections of this trail in Upper Svaneti. It begins in Chuberi and in the end merges with the popular route Mestia - Ushguli. The recommended season is from July to October. Join up!

What’s a vacation at our chalet? It’s a perfect place to reboot and have some rest, with panoramic views of mountain tops and the town of Mestia. The location of Sami Mta is ideal: close to nature, far from daily routine.

A traditional Georgian dish satsivi is a chicken in walnut sauce of the same name. A salience of this sauce is a large amount of chopped walnuts. And, of course, an essential part of the dish are spices and herbs.

The satsivi recipe goes several centuries back. A new way of cooking poultry was invented due to a desire to preserve meat in a warm climate in the absence of a fridge. It was made possible thanks to the satsivi sauce with wine vinegar or pomegranate juice.
