ELDERLY LANDLORDS SADLY ARRESTED IN NANTON AT THEIR NIGHT BASE 😔
The intimidation in Nanton continues as state-sponsored security personnel intensify their operations. Last night, a group of elderly landlords, believed to be in their late 60s and members of the Sapasheini-nima in the Nanton township, were arrested by military personnel deployed to provide security for Naa Bawa.
According to eyewitnesses, the elderly men were seated at their usual spot after supper, having a casual conversation, when the military stormed the area and arrested all of them, accusing them of plotting an attack on a target.
The soldiers later invaded the homes of the arrested persons, seizing local machetes typically used by Sapasheini-nima for hunting and during funerals. They also confiscated butchers’ knives and traditional black medicine—items commonly possessed by grown men in Dagbon.
At the time of the arrest, all the men were shirtless, as they were merely taking fresh air at their usual meeting place. 😢
