When we think of 'boldness,' our minds might conjure images of fearless leaders and daring innovators. But what does a bold presence look like for us, the regular folk? It's simpler, subtler, and far more accessible than you might think.

A bold presence is not about volume; it's about the value of your words and actions resonating with sincerity. It’s sitting at the table and daring to speak your truth, even when your voice quivers. It's about making decisions that align with your core values and not just the fleeting approval of others. It’s about living with intent and purpose, even in the mundane.

In our book "A Bold Presence," we explore how everyday moments are opportunities to exercise boldness. It’s in the way you assert your boundaries respectfully, how you advocate for a colleague, or embrace a new challenge without the fear of failure but with an appetite for growth.

Being boldly present means recognizing that each of us has something unique to offer the world. It's about shedding the weight of others' expectations to reveal the strength of your authentic self. It’s about not shrinking away but rather standing tall in your own story, owning every chapter—including the ones you're not proud of.

In this chapter, we delve into real-life scenarios where boldness can be practiced in everyday life. From standing up for a stranger to pursuing a long-sidelined passion, the essence of a bold presence is distilled into actionable steps that will guide you on your journey to becoming the most undiluted version of yourself.

One time my friend Carl told me, “you know you can just live your life right? You don’t have to justify it and argue with people about it”.

I do very much like to take advice from Carl. It’s almost not advice, more like a suggestion.

He said “you can live however you want, do whatever you want, go where you want, live how you like. You don’t have to talk about it to be able to do it”.

And that was the day I stopped trying to reason and negotiate with society.

Instead, I just do it. Whatever I want, whenever I want to. And no social police has come to arrest me yet.

You think women shouldn’t stay at home, don’t be here talking about how we don’t accept women who work, just go and work.

You like polygamy? Stop trying to justify it, those who like it will like it and those who don’t like it won’t like it, if you like it, go do it.

You notice a gap in your friend’s etiquette? “Ghanaians don’t give gifts when they come to your event”. Start taking gifts yourself. They will be too ashamed to ever show up to your thing without gifts, if they have shame that is.

People take advantage of kindness? Stop them, Block them. Or don’t, and keep suffering.

People around you antagonize you and do passive aggressive sh*t? Cut them off.

There are absolutely things that need to be addressed, issues that need to travel beyond the confines of our mental walls .But humanity will never agree on a single way to live.

Your morality will never be the same as someone else’s.

Your religion and it’s rules will never appeal to everyone.

The things you hold sacred and dear will not mean anything to another person.

Your angel is someone else’s satan.

So today before you go on long rants, take a minute, listen to Carl, and just go do the thing, whatever it is, instead of convincing some online stranger that it’s the right way to live

Three decades I’ve been on this earth. And yet it feels like 10. Not because it has been sour or that time dragged on, but in that I have done, seen, heard and lived so much that sometimes I myself doubt if I haven’t been here longer than my mother claims.
The talents I’ve been blessed with, the love I have been showered with, the sheer number of humans who have adored me. To utter a word of discontent for my life would be the height of blasphemy. My maker has indeed been generous.

And so

Today, and everyday of my life, All I am is grateful.
Grateful for my babies
Grateful for my friends
Grateful even for those who think of me for it is no small feat to be offered a chamber in someone else’s mind.

I welcome age, I appreciate growth, for one who despises an increase in age simply does not know the great luck it takes to have life.
Today I thank God for my life, and thank the universe, for favoring me so.
