I stayed at Mama's Place Guest House for around 3 weeks towards the end of 2022, and would definitely recommend it to anyone else looking to stay in Bolgatanga!

The Guest House itself is located a 5-10 minute drive outside of Bolgatanga Town Centre, just opposite the filling station on the Bolga-Navrongo Road. The road is busy enough, meaning I never had to wait long for a Candoo, but in the evening it was fairly quiet.

The rooms themselves were very pleasant. Ranging from $10 to $22 a night during my stay, the more expensive rooms came with a large bed, AC, a refrigerator and an en-suite bathroom. Though the fixtures were basic the rooms were clean and comfortable. A tasty breakfast was also included, and the hotel has a small lounge/dining area and a bar for water and other drinks.

The staff were very welcoming, making me feel at home during my stay. They helped me acclimatise to the town, happy to give me advice on travel and local amenities/tourist attractions. The meals they cooked on an evening (available for an extra fee) were very good, with them offering a variety of Ghanaian dishes.

And perhaps most importantly the Guest House is connected with a local orphanage, meaning the profits go towards helping vulnerable children in the area. I would very much recommend people travelling to Bolgatanga stay here!
