🇬🇷📚 Greek medical schools are becoming increasingly international.

Greece is stepping up its efforts to attract international students, with English-language undergraduate medical programmes emerging as one of the country’s strongest offerings in the global higher-education market.

According to Kathimerini, around 900 international students are already studying medicine in English-language programmes at Greek universities, with annual tuition fees ranging from €12,000 to €15,000. Five of Greece’s seven medical schools currently offer such programmes, while the remaining two are expected to follow by 2027–28.

The newest programme, at the University of Patras, received 168 applications from 23 countries for just 50 places ahead of its launch this September.

Beyond attracting students, the expansion of English-language programmes is also bringing additional resources to universities, supporting infrastructure, research and greater international engagement.

🌍 With students applying from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and beyond, Greece is increasingly positioning its universities as part of the international higher-education landscape.

A powerful vote of confidence in the Greek economy from one of its most steadfast international investors! 🇬🇷🍁

Prem Watsa, often called "Canada’s Warren Buffett" and founder of Fairfax Financial Holdings, is expanding his footprint in Greece through Recipe Unlimited's 100% acquisition of Evergood (home to iconic brands like Goody’s Burger House, Everest, Flocafé, La Pasteria, and Jackaroo).

Watsa was one of the few global investors who backed Greece during its toughest economic years—starting with a massive investment in Eurobank in 2014, followed by major positions in Eurolife and Grivalia Real Estate.

Now, bringing Greece's leading food service platform into a global empire of over 1,100 restaurants demonstrates a continued, long-term belief in the Greek market's resilience, growth momentum, and value creation.

A huge strategic win for the Greek business landscape.

🔗

Vivartia has signed a definitive agreement to sell its food service subsidiary Evergood, which operates the Goody’s, Everest, Flocafe, La Pasteria and Jackaroo chains, to Canadian restaurant group Recipe Unlimited Corp, the companies announced Wednesday.

Synergia had the privilege of visiting Skyline Havens at The Ellinikon, following an invitation to experience first-hand the progress of one of Europe’s most ambitious urban regeneration projects.

Located in the heart of the East Village, Skyline Havens reflects the distinctive residential vision of The Ellinikon — combining contemporary architecture, panoramic views, resort-style amenities and a strong connection to nature and the surrounding urban environment.

The visit provided an opportunity to look beyond the individual development and gain a deeper understanding of the broader vision for The Ellinikon: the creation of a new, integrated destination where exceptional design, sustainability, connectivity, hospitality, leisure and quality of life converge.

What is particularly compelling is the scale and long-term ambition of the transformation. The Ellinikon is redefining a significant part of the Athens Riviera while creating a new benchmark for contemporary urban development and strengthening Athens’ position within the international landscape of major regeneration projects.

For Synergia, the visit was an inspiring opportunity to see the progress at close range, engage with the vision behind the development and reflect on the role of long-term thinking, strategic ex*****on and collaboration in shaping the cities of tomorrow.

We would like to thank The Ellinikon team for the invitation and for the opportunity to experience Skyline Havens and the wider development first-hand.

A landmark development.
A transformative vision.
A new chapter for Athens.

🚨 BREAKING: EU proposes unprecedented new relationship with Canada 🇪🇺🇨🇦

A major proposal from Brussels could reshape Canada–EU relations.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has invited Canada to explore becoming the EU’s first “associated member” — a new form of partnership that would stop short of full EU membership.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was in the European Parliament as the proposal was announced.

🔹 Not full EU membership
🔹 A potentially deeper economic and strategic partnership
🔹 A new model that does not currently exist as an established EU status
🔹 Details on rights and obligations still to be negotiated

The proposal comes as Canada seeks to deepen relationships beyond the United States, and the EU looks to strengthen ties with strategic partners.

Could Canada–EU relations be entering a completely new era?
