Enjoy delicious souvlaki, local drinks, music, dancing and, of course, the famous tradition of jumping over the fires! 🎶🍢🍻🔥
But what does it mean?
The tradition is linked to the Feast of Saint John and the ancient Greek custom of Klidonas, which dates back hundreds of years. Villagers light large bonfires and jump over them as a symbol of purification, good health, good luck and leaving behind anything negative from the past year. The fires are also connected with the summer solstice and the arrival of the warm summer season.
Across Greece, these celebrations bring communities together with music, food, dancing and laughter, making it one of the most authentic cultural experiences visitors can enjoy.
