How We Need God's Banner Upon Us, by Byron de la Rosa
In the spring of 1942, German soldiers frequently marched on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, France (the Champs-Elysées is the city's most beautiful and well-known avenue), in order to break the spirit of the French nation even further, having been defeated by Germany two years earlier.
The French resistance, operating as a guerrilla, warned the British of the moral suffering this was causing their nation and asked them for help.
The British decided to train a couple of volunteer pilots to fly from England to Paris, strafe N**i soldiers parading on the avenue, and drop French flags on the Arc de Triomphe and the German Ministry of the Navy building.
The English pilots Alfred Kitchener Gatward and Gilbert Fern completed the mission in June 1942, although there was a mistake in the time of the departure of the German soldiers and they do not found them, machine-gunned the navy building, dropped the flags in the designated places and surprisingly, they were able to return to England safe and sound.
This action caused the Germans never to march in this place again and strengthened the spirits not only of the French but even of the English, who up to that point in the war, had had very few victories.
We may be living situations that, like the French at that time, make us ashamed, angry, powerless. It can be behaviors in our children, parents, friends, difficulties in our jobs or businesses, debts, illnesses, bad habits, addictions.
God, through Jesus Christ, sent us a banner of forgiveness, acceptance, provision, grace, peace, and whatever was necessary to not only drive our enemies away from us, but to defeat them completely as the French did with the Germans, with the help of the Allies, in august 1944. Do you want his flag?
