5.26.26
I first started training in 2010 thanks to uncle and uncle ❤️ and
I was promoted to blue belt in 2012 and purple belt in December of 2014.
Purple belt has probably been the toughest chapter of them all. I spent many years away from the mats thinking I wasn’t going to train again.
Sadly, there’s no cool story here about never quitting. Quite the opposite. I’ve quit many times, more than I’d like to admit, but maybe that was the whole point. Sometimes life just happens and it challenges you to change and start again.
I truly believe jiu jitsu has a way of making you a better person, husband, and father, and I’d like to try to be an example of that.
As I step into this new chapter and continue this journey, I’ve been trying to live by a simple framework to keep myself honest:
1. Have fun
2. Get better
3. Work hard
And so I’ll continue to try and do just that.
Next
I’m so grateful for my love for her endless support, and for my baby Kaia coming with me to training these days. You make me whole and having you there meant the world to me.
Lastly, I’m incredibly grateful for professor , professor , , all the professors, the breakfast club, and the family at . You guys make it fun and worth all the blood, sweat, and tears.
Cheers to this next chapter 🤎
