在洪水高峰期，洞里薩湖的面積可由約2,500平方公里擴大至約15,000平方公里，增加至原來的六倍。這個特殊的自然現象孕育了豐富的魚類與生態資源，也維繫著眾多當地居民的生活。

Did you know that Cambodia’s Tonle Sap River changes its direction of flow with the seasons?

During the dry season, water flows from Tonle Sap Lake through the river and into the Mekong. When the rainy season arrives and the Mekong’s water level rises, the powerful current pushes the Tonle Sap River backwards, sending water into the lake.

At the peak of the flood season, Tonle Sap Lake can expand from approximately 2,500 square kilometres to around 15,000 square kilometres—six times its normal size. This extraordinary natural cycle supports abundant fish populations, rich biodiversity and the livelihoods of many local communities.

Cambodia’s famous Water Festival, Bon Om Touk, celebrates the end of the rainy season and the river’s changing direction, with exciting boat races forming one of the country’s most iconic traditions.

啟動儀式於8月18日舉行。此支付機制讓支援KHQR的柬埔寨商戶透過現有二維碼系統接受微信支付，為中國遊客提供更快速、便利的消費體驗。

此次合作不僅有助於減少現金使用、提升跨境支付效率，也標誌著柬中支付系統互聯互通邁出重要一步，將進一步促進兩國人員往來、旅遊消費與經貿交流。

Cambodia–China Cross-Border QR Payment Service Officially Launched 🇰🇭🇨🇳

Cambodia and China have officially launched their cross-border QR payment cooperation. Under the first phase, Chinese visitors can use Weixin Pay to scan Cambodia’s unified KHQR codes when making payments in the Kingdom.

The official launch ceremony was held on August 18. Weixin Pay users can now scan participating merchants’ existing KHQR codes to complete transactions, making spending in Cambodia faster and more convenient.

This payment system enables KHQR-supported merchants to accept Weixin Pay through their existing QR infrastructure. It will help reduce the need for cash and improve the convenience of cross-border payments.

The cooperation marks another important step toward greater payment connectivity between Cambodia and China, while supporting travel, tourism spending and closer people-to-people exchanges.

Foreign direct investment in Cambodia increased by nearly 20% during the first half of 2026, according to a report from the National Bank of Cambodia.

Cambodia also approved 276 fixed-asset investment projects worth approximately US$4.7 billion during the same period. These projects cover renewable energy, manufacturing, electric-vehicle assembly, tourism and agriculture, and are expected to create around 160,000 jobs.

Cambodian Durian Accelerates Its Entry into the Chinese Market 🇰🇭🇨🇳

During the first seven months of this year, Cambodia exported 5,738 tonnes of fresh durian to China—nearly 40 times the total recorded for the whole of 2025—demonstrating strong export potential.

Following the opening of a new agricultural transit route between Cambodia and Laos, the transportation time to China has been reduced to approximately five days, compared with 15–20 days by sea. This significantly improves delivery efficiency while preserving the freshness of the fruit.

Known for its rich aroma, creamy texture and natural sweetness, Cambodian durian is gaining increasing attention and appreciation among Chinese consumers. Its growing export volume also reflects the improving quality and international competitiveness of Cambodia’s agricultural products.

Cambodia's import and export trade maintained strong growth in the first half of 2026 🇰🇭📈

Cambodia’s exports jumped 19.5% year-on-year to $17 billion in the first half of 2026, according to a General Department of Customs and Excise report released yesterday.

The report added that the country’s imports surged 21.4% year-on-year to $19.7 billion from January to June this year.

The growth was driven by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) alongside bilateral free trade agreements with other economies. 🌏✨
