約有60萬名房主的按揭貸款是「跟隨」英格蘭銀行的利率,因此基準利率的變動會立即影響每月的還款。

但超過八成的按揭客戶擁有固定利率的合約。雖然他們的每月支付不會立即受到影響,但未來的合約會受到影響。

根據金融資訊公司Moneyfacts,截至2月19日,平均兩年期固定按揭利率為5.41%,而五年期的利率為5.23%。平均的兩年期跟隨利率為5.19%。

許多購房者和重新按揭的人所需支付的金額比幾年前借取相同金額時要多得多。
