One popular option is using a freight-forwarding or courier service that provides you with a U.S. shipping address.

When you shop online, you send your package to that U.S. address. The shipping company receives it at their warehouse, processes it, and then transports it to Honduras by air or sea before sending it on to Roatan. Depending on the service, you may pick up your package locally or have it delivered.

Mangroves are one of the island's most valuable natural resources. They help protect the shoreline from erosion and storms, provide critical habitat for fish and other marine life, and naturally filter the water that flows into the reef.

Because they're so important, mangroves are protected by law in Honduras. In general, they cannot be cleared, cut down, filled in, or removed and unauthorized removal can result in significant penalties.

🏡 What does this mean for buyers?
If a property includes mangroves, it's important to understand how that may affect your plans. Land covered by protected mangroves may have significant restrictions on where or whether you can build or develop.
