Mark & Mary: People they are so welcoming and helpful. The weather, we now have four proper seasons.

2) What 2 things do you dislike about Croatia - and why?
Mark & Mary: Bureaucracy totally unnecessary. The way the government treats the people - they appear uncaring.

3) What 2 things do you miss from your home country - and why?
Mark & Mary: The choices when eating out are limited. Miss being able to eat in international restaurants - although Zagreb does have an Indian. Friends and family

4) What 2 pieces of advice would you give to someone planning on moving to Croatia?
Mark & Mary: Come and visit a few times and look at different locations. Be patient it takes time. It's worth waiting for.

5) What 2 things would you recommend to anyone planning on buying/renting a property in Croatia?
Mark & Mary: Do you're homework. Find a reliable solicitor.

6) Describe your impressions of the Croatian people.
Mark & Mary: Warm, extremely welcoming, helpful and inquisitive.

7) What is the biggest change in your life(style) since you started living in Croatia?
Mark & Mary: Everything is relaxed - total opposite of previous life.

8) If you didn't live in Croatia - where would you like to be - and why?
Mark & Mary: Northern Spain.very much like Croatia.

9) What is your favourite Croatian dish and type of drink?
Mark & Mary: Meso cooked on the grill and wine.

10) What is your favourite Croatian tradition?
Mark & Mary: All Souls Day

We would go for:

1) Scope to add our own touch to the building. We don’t like the idea of a total gutting and complete renovation - but more an adaptation of what is already there.

2) Room to breathe - fed up with shoebox living in the UK, we’d like more space.

3) A rural setting, so we can see the seasons change and feel the rhythm of nature.

4) Location - to be able to reach a motorway within 15 minutes and max one year to an international airport.

5) To have outbuildings - especially a workshop so that things can be tinkered with and experienced on…!
