Dubrovnik has introduced a **Special Traffic Regulation Zone** around its historic center, the first city in Croatia to do so. This new measure is designed to reduce congestion and enhance the experience for both residents and visitors.
Key Points for Tourists:
- Vehicle Access Restricted: Only authorized vehicles, including those with special permits, can enter the zone. Most tourists and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to drive directly up to the Old Town.
- ParkโnโRide Coming Soon: From 2026, a ParkโnโRide system will further limit traffic near the Pile Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town.
- Ride-Hailing Services: Only Uber and Bolt drivers with special city permits can pick up and drop off passengers in the restricted zone. Make sure your ride is properly licensed.
- Navigation: The new zone will soon be marked on Google Maps to help drivers and visitors navigate the area.
- Enforcement: Traffic inspectors will be conducting regular checks. Illegal taxis are being targeted, so always use official, licensed transport.
Tips for a Smooth Visit:
- Plan to walk or use public transport to access the Old Town.
- If arriving by car, use designated parking areas outside the zone and follow local signs.
- For questions or help with permits, the Cityโs Zone Management Centre is available to assist.
This initiative aims to make Dubrovnikโs historic center more enjoyable and accessible for everyone. Please respect the new rules and enjoy your stay!
Safe travels!
