Pag gives you plenty to explore, but we recommend to leave one day blank.

At Pool Villas Pastura, you can make that day as simple as you like. We'd start with breakfast outside, a swim before lunch, then spend the afternoon by the pool and come back to the terrace for dinner.

After a few days spent exploring beaches, towns and the rest of the island, having a villa where you are equally happy staying in for the day is a luxury of its own.

Beach 40 metres away or a whole villa with more space and privacy?

Both work well for a family stay on Pag but they suit different holidays.

Villa Laverna in Novalja keeps the practical things close: the sea is just steps away, the town centre and shops are within easy reach and the apartments come with a heated pool, equipped kitchens and private terraces.

Villa Oblica in Jakišnica gives you a different setup: a four-bedroom villa, heated pool, more private outdoor space, plus an outdoor kitchen and BBQ for days when staying at the villa is part of the plan.

Which option is better? Depends on whether your family values walkability and easy access to town, or more space, privacy and time at the property.

Save the hiking boots for May, early June or September.

Pag’s exposed limestone landscape is much easier to explore outside the hottest part of summer - with quieter trails, more comfortable temperatures and better conditions for longer hikes and climbs.

May and early June bring mild conditions and spring vegetation across the stone pastures. In September and early October, the trails quiet down again while the sea is still warm enough for a swim after a day outdoors.

Pag offers very little shade on these routes, so bring sturdy shoes and plenty of water, and always check the Bura forecast before heading onto exposed trails or the via ferrata.

If hiking and climbing are part of your holiday plans, the weeks before and after peak summer are some of the best times to explore Pag.

If we had a week on Pag, we wouldn’t spend all seven days in the same place but we definitely wouldn’t schedule every hour either.

Start with a couple of days in Novalja, head north to Lun and its ancient olive gardens, explore the eastern coast around Metajna and Beritnica, then spend an afternoon in Pag town. Keep one day open for a boat trip, kayak, another beach or simply staying by the pool.

For a first trip, we recommend five to seven nights. Just enough time to see several sides of the island without spending the holiday rushing between them.

A good reason to add Pag to your September plans: Misec paške soli (Month of Pag Salt). 🧂

Throughout September, Pag town celebrates one of the traditions that has shaped the island for centuries with a programme built around salt production, local food, culture, workshops and outdoor events.

Across the month, you can visit the salt fields and permanent exhibition, browse local products, join creative workshops, take part in a bike tour around the saltworks or the Salt Walk and catch events dedicated to Pag cheese, w**e, local liqueurs, science and gastronomy.

Later in the month, the programme also includes a street food evening with live music, while several dates bring visitors closer to the salt-making tradition itself through organised salt harvests.

If local food, island traditions and seeing a destination beyond its beaches are part of the reason you travel, September is a particularly good time to visit Pag.
