PT Maxindo Karya Anugerah, a leading snack manufacturer based in Bogor, officially opened its third factory in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK) on July 9, 2026. The new factory is projected to have a significant economic impact on the Kendal community, with plans to hire approximately 1,000 workers to operate the newest production facility.

Gareth Suryo Wijoyokartono, Director of PT Maxindo Karya Anugerah, said, “This expansion into Kendal marks a new milestone following the company’s success in operating two factories in Bogor. This third factory is designed to increase production capacity to meet global market demand,” he said.

As an export-oriented company committed to using 100% raw materials from Indonesian farmers, PT Maxindo prioritizes maintaining its supply chain and product quality. To ensure the availability of root vegetable raw materials, the company has launched a direct partnership program with local farmers through the distribution of seeds. As for its products, the company has successfully exported them to 30 countries, including the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan, and others.

The presence of PT Maxindo in Kendal SEZ further complements and strengthens the industrial ecosystem in the region, particularly in the export-oriented food and beverage sector. As an export-oriented company, PT Maxindo contributes to product diversification in Kendal SEZ and creates a positive multiplier effect for the local economy.

One of the outcomes announced at the Leaders’ Retreat between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was the expansion of Kendal SEZ by 1,000 hectares. This agreement is part of the two countries’ commitment to strengthening their strategic cooperation in various fields, including investment and economic development.

During a joint press conference, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong highlighted the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as a success story of economic cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, which is celebrating its first decade this year.

“Kendal SEZ will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year and is one of the success stories of cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore. The park has reached full capacity and will be expanded by another 1,000 hectares. This expansion will attract more investment, create jobs, and support Indonesia’s economic growth and development by boosting trade and investment between the two countries,” said Lawrence Wong.

Lawrence Wong reaffirmed the commitment of Indonesia and Singapore to strengthening supply chain resilience and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. This will allow both countries, as well as the ASEAN region, to become more resilient and competitive in the face of global economic dynamics.

PT Hoifu Paper Packaging Indonesia, a global integrated packaging company, officially held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Its holding company, Hoifu Group, is known as a provider of end-to-end packaging services, ranging from original design, research and development (R&D), and prototyping to intelligent manufacturing.

Hoifu delivers high-value-added packaging solutions for various industrial sectors through high-quality technological innovations. These sectors include to***co, alcohol, consumer electronics, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

PT Hoifu Paper Packaging Indonesia plans to invest approximately Rp1.12 trillion in Kendal SEZ. The project will be developed in phases and aims to create up to 1,000 jobs, 95% of which will be filled by local workers and 5% by expatriate workers.

The new production facilities will focus on manufacturing high-value packaging products, including color boxes, premium boxes, wine packaging, tea and food packaging, labels, luxury goods packaging, and other printed products. Designed to meet the needs of the manufacturing industry for both the domestic market and export, these products primarily serve tenants located within and around Kendal SEZ.

"Kendal SEZ has great potential as a hub for manufacturing growth in Southeast Asia. Through this investment, we aim to provide high-quality packaging solutions that support operational efficiency and enhance product value for our partners,” said Kelvin Au, Director of PT Hoifu Paper Packaging Indonesia.

PT Naturepack Essentials Indonesia is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable industry by officially opening its newest production facility in Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Thursday (26/3). The plant is expected to serve as a cornerstone of the green industry supply chain to meet the surge in demand for eco-friendly packaging in the domestic market.

Utilizing state-of-the-art green manufacturing technology, this facility specializes in the production of premium paper packaging, including cardboard boxes, paper plates, and high-quality display racks. With a target production capacity of 10 million units per year, Naturepack is confident it can reduce the national industry’s reliance on imported packaging materials.

Wang Lin, Director of PT Naturepack, said that choosing Kendal Special Economic Zone was a strategic move. “The infrastructure and strategic logistics access here allow us to distribute eco-friendly packaging solutions more quickly and efficiently to our industry partners,” he said.

In alignment with this, Shi, Chairman of PT Naturepack, emphasized that this expansion prioritizes ethical considerations. “We provide packaging that is not only functionally strong, but also ecologically sound for a market that is increasingly environmentally conscious,” he said.

The presence of this factory, which is equipped with an R&D laboratory, is expected to serve as an economic catalyst in Kendal Regency, particularly through the creation of local jobs and the provision of competitive prices for local businesses.

Lunar New Year 2026 represents a fresh start and the hope for greater prosperity. In keeping with this spirit, Kendal SEZ held a Lunar New Year gathering for partners and business entities on Friday, February 6th, 2026. The event marked an important moment for Kendal SEZ to reaffirm its commitment to service and foster harmonious industrial relations.

The event, attended by 200 guests from 80 business entities, carried the theme “Blazing Trails of Prosperity.” The gathering aimed to align the strategic vision between Kendal SEZ and business entities in facing global industry challenges in 2026.

In his speech, President Director of Kendal SEZ, Vincent Lee emphasized that the success of this industrial park is inseparable from the positive contributions and trust of all stakeholders.

"This celebration symbolizes the strength and energy that inspire us to achieve great things. 2026 will be a special year for Kendal SEZ. We started from humble beginnings and will continue to grow rapidly in the future. Let's work together to achieve this goal. Thank you for the smooth cooperation that has been established," he said.

The main procession is marked by the tradition of mixing Yee Sang. All the guests stand together and stir and lift this Lunar New Year salad as high as possible. This tradition represents the hope that luck and success will increase in the new year.

To lighten the atmosphere, the event featured entertainment activities, such as interactive games and dinner. This session provided an opportunity for business leaders in Kendal SEZ to interact informally and expand their professional networks. To commemorate National K3 Month 2026, Kendal Special Economic Zone (Kendal SEZ) held a blood donation drive to demonstrate genuine concern for others. This two-day event (January 14-15, 2026) is a collaboration between Kendal SEZ, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Kendal Regency, and the Dharma Wanita Persatuan Ministry of Industry UPT Central Java.

The blood donation event was held in Polytechnic of Furniture and Wood Processing Industry Kendal. This humanitarian action successfully attracted 318 participants from stakeholders in Kendal SEZ, with a total of 269 bags of blood collected.

This activity proves that K3 culture not only focuses on protecting workers in the workplace, but also on making a positive contribution to wider society. Through it, Kendal SEZ reaffirms its commitment to promoting healthy and caring K3 values in terms of both worker health and social responsibility.

As the year drew to a close, Kendal Industrial Park reached a new milestone by received an award in the 'Best Norma 100 Industrial Park' category at the 2025 Norma 100 Awards event organised by the Ministry of Manpower. The award was given for KIP's commitment to maintaining and implementing high labor standards within the estate (8/12)

A total of 16 industrial parks in Indonesia participated in the Norma 100 assessment, which was conducted through a comprehensive self-assessment process. This included KIP and all business entities. The evaluation covered various employment-related aspects. KIP achieved a score of 85 out of 100, successfully receiving second place in the Best Norma 100 Industrial Park category.

As of the 3rd quarter of this year, KIP has successfully absorbed 38,001 workers, with the majority coming from Kendal Regency. This growth demonstrates the region's investment appeal and its tangible contribution to economic development. Since 2020, KIP has helped to reduce the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Kendal Regency by 2.9%, from 7.56% in 2020 to 4.6% in September 2025. This achievement further confirms the region's positive impact on improving welfare.

This achievement certainly strengthens KIP's position as an industrial park that not only focuses on accelerating investment but also commits to responsible and sustainable employment practices. With increasingly robust governance standards, KIP will continue to strike a balance between industrial growth, worker welfare, and regulatory compliance in the future.

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, PT Hiron Indonesia Industry officially opened its high-tech cold chain factory in Kendal Industrial Park. Hiron is a subsidiary of Qingdao Hiron Commercial Cold Chain Co Ltd, a Chinese company renowned for manufacturing commercial refrigeration equipment and operating a global distribution network. Its products have been exported to 70 countries across six continents, and it has a strong reputation for specialised, differentiated and customisable refrigeration solutions.

President Director of Qingdao Hairong Cold Chain Co., Ltd., Mr Shao Wei, said, “We firmly adhere to our core development strategy of specialisation, differentiation and customisation in order to provide customers with tailored solutions and professional services, such as low-temperature storage, product display and corporate image display at the point of sale.”

Looking ahead, Hiron will focus on research and development, production, sales and the provision of commercial cold chain services required by the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and modern retail sectors. With an estimated annual production capacity of around 500,000 units, the company will target both local and overseas markets. Hiron will initially employ 800 people when operations begin.

Juliani Kusumaningrum, Executive Director of Kendal Industrial Park, emphasised that Hiron's presence adds value to industrial development within the estate.

“Hiron's presence further complements the technology-based industrial components in KIP. Electronic equipment and cooling industries, such as Hiron, play a key role in establishing an interconnected industrial chain in the area, while also contributing to the diversification of Kendal's rapidly growing manufacturing sector,” she said.

Kendal Regency Government, Business Entites of Kendal Industrial Park, and Polytechnic of Furniture and Wood Processing (Polifueneka) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement related to the provision of skilled manpower. The event was organized by Department of Industry and Manpower (Disperinaker) Kendal and was held on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, at the Tumenggung Bahurekso Kendal Hall.

More than 20 business entities in KIP attended this event. These businesses come from various industrial sectors, including furniture, textiles and garments, automotive, electronics, packaging, food and beverage (F&B), medical equipment and renewable energy. This demonstrates both the high demand for labour in Kendal and the enormous potential for developing local workforce competencies.

This collaboration is an important step in strengthening the relationship between the local government and industry, particularly with regard to ensuring the availability of human resources that meet industry needs. Given the rapid growth in the number of companies operating in KIP, collaboration is required to enhance the calibre of the local workforce and create more job opportunities for the people of Kendal.
